SOCIAL MEDIA AD CAMPAIGN
As a pioneering advertising agency, my former employer Red Edge became one of the first firms to leverage Instagram advertising. It was the solution to a practical challenge: how do you grab the attention of high school students? The entrée was reaching high school history and civics students, as we cut through the clutter with a web-based interactive quiz website, SwiftYourRights.com and promoted on Instagram
I was tasked with the advertising creative, but faced a significant obstacle: we were extremely limited in terms of which Taylor Swift images we were legally permitted to use in the advertising context. My solution was to create an illustrated version of a very recognizable T. Swift image. In addition to navigated image licensing issues, the illustration enabled us to play around with references to the Revolutionary War Era, like the tricorne hat, and was exclusive to the content of our client, the Bill of Rights Institute.
